Practice business management and gain skills in canine emergency first aid.
The course is delivered over a minimum of 30 days of practical training with additional theory work to be completed at home.
iPET Network is proud to have developed this NEW qualification in the Animal Care and Veterinary Science sector. Over the period of 30 days at one of our Training Providers, candidates will groom at least 20 dogs to include a minimum of 10 different breeds, covering 6 different coat types, but often many more. There are no prerequisites to starting the qualification, meaning candidates can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first, which can be a huge cost saving to candidates.

Candidates will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling and nail trimming on a variety of dog breeds.

Uniquely, candidates are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit a formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by candidates to our Training Provider from across the UK, Ireland and internationally. iPET Network designed the qualification to have an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning. Feedback suggests that this qualification takes the pressure out of adult learning, and this approach appeals to a wide range of Candidates. Our Training Providers are striving to improve industry standards by ensuring Candidates walk out fully qualified, confident and competent in dog grooming.

The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management will demonstrate to an employer or the general public that candidates have the necessary technical skills and knowledge to successfully groom a range of dog breeds. This is a formal, regulated, nationally recognised qualification that will remain relevant throughout the candidate’s career and can only be achieved by reaching the required skill level. It has been designed specifically for those looking to become professional dog groomers or those who already groom dogs (as a hobby or career) but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification. This approach and these elements are unique to our course syllabus, making the qualification a more rounded and robust qualification.

The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid is perfect for owners and professionals alike who want to be prepared should a pet need emergency treatment. The qualification covers the most commonly faced canine needs such as how to treat injury, dressing wounds, allergic reactions, stings, poisoning, choking, seizures, CPR, hypothermia and much more.

The qualification is an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning to ensure Candidates have the knowledge required should they ever be faced with an emergency first aid situation.

This qualification is valid for 3 years before requiring a refresher training day.

This qualification has been designed to enable Candidates to:

Define the objectives of first aid and know how to classify different types of emergencies.

Know how to safely handle dogs in emergency situations.

Understand how to complete a primary survey of the dog including the theory of how to take temperature, pulse and respiration rate.

Know and understand the theory of how to conduct CPR, abdominal thrusts and the recovery position.

Identify the signs and appropriate first aid management of wounds, bleeding and fractures including principles of applying bandages.

Identify the signs and appropriate first aid treatment of heat-related illness (hyperthermia), water inhalation, convulsions, bloat and poisoning.

List the requirements and contents of an emergency first aid kit for dogs.
